Crown Lifting: The Key to Being Queen Custodian to a Doug Fir in the City

There is nothing like lifting the crown of a huge evergreen tree when you live in the city.
After.
Before.

There are two Doug firs on this property and admittedly, they’ve not been tended to until recently. (Thisย is the post from last spring about the Medusa-headed specimen on the south side of the house.)

After.
Before.

Now that the light is flooding in, I can reexamine what to do with what’s underneath the tree. I had been planning on doing a big makeover anyway to really tidy up the design so wish me luck! There will be many more posts to come…

SO PRETTY! It really brightens the space. We limbed up a tree in the front, and it immediately lifted my spirits. I'm sure you're feeling very satisfied now. ๐Ÿ˜€

Well done. Such a cute house deserves to be more easily seen.

Yay for that! And I like that you didn't go overboard either. Too often I see people trim it up too far so they won't have to do it again for another 20 years. Then the tree ends up looking like a tiny little Christmas tree on top of a 30 ft trunk.

That light makes a difference. It looks good. Your garden is so nice tucked under that big tree but best with a little more head room!

Wow…that is a HUGE improvement…it's like you doubled the space available somehow! It must feel amazing to have it so much more open and bright…can't wait to see what you end up doing in your re-hab of the garden!

I am feeling a lot of satisfaction. It rained today and the plants underneath the tree actually got wet for a change!
